Position Title                   : Plumbing Helper

Position Level                  : GSS

  1. MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
  • Maintain the flow and drainage of water, air, and other gases by assembling, installing, and repairing pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures.
  • Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all plumbing systems in college facilities.
  • Install, maintain and repair pipes and fixtures associated with water distribution in residential and other structures.
  • Fix domestic appliances; inspect plumbing systems for compliance with local regulations.
  1. GENERAL ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Install pipes and fixtures, such as sinks and toilets, for water, gas, steam, or other liquids
    • Assemble fittings and valves for installation.
    • Analyze problem and identify appropriate tools and materials for repair.
    • Writes report documenting the problem and summary of actions taken.
    • Performs inspections of plumbing systems to identify and replace worn parts
    • Carry out any other task that may be assigned from time to time
  1. SPECIFIC ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Installing, maintaining and repairing pipe including joins, valves, drains and fixtures in all types of structures
  • inspection for the first time
  • Keeping and maintaining records of time spent on a job and materials purchased for the work
  • Responding to plumbing emergencies, determining the issue and making a repair
  • Performing regular maintenance of plumbing systems to prevent emergencies
  1. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSA) REQUIREMENTS:
  • Education: Nil
  • Experience: Experience will be an added advantage for short-listing purpose.
  • Knowledge, skills and abilities requirements
    • Skilled in carrying out routine works efficiently and effectively and can use appropriate tools.
    • Knowledge of rules and regulations pertaining to the area of work.
    • Good communication skills in written as well as spoken at least in Dzongkha and English.
    • Ability to organize information and maintain up-to-date information for administrative and management purposes.
    • Ability to be courteous and able to handle matters on short notice.
    • High level of knowledge in the area of responsibilities.
    • Good interpersonal skills to garner support from relevant officials.
    • Strong Communication and Customer service skills.
