Royal Visit Marks GCIT’s 2025 Tech Showcase and Milestone in Innovation

On 18 June 2025, Their Majesties The King and The Gyaltsuen, along with Their Royal Highnesses Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel and Gyalsey Ugyen Wangchuck, attended the Capstone Tech Innovation Showcase at Gyalpozhing College of Information Technology (GCIT). During the event, Their Majesties inaugurated GCIT’s new Multipurpose Hall, highlighted by a 3D visual presentation created by the college’s Studio K. The showcase featured innovative student-led projects tackling real-world issues through advanced technologies. Among the highlights were an AI-powered IoT system for sustainable Himalayan crawfish farming developed with Singaporean partners, a helicopter reservation platform, a blockchain-based land transaction system, an AI-enabled crop protection tool called ZhingScan, a digital facility management system for NHDCL, a fully student-built national blockchain voting system, and a RAG-based Generative Intelligence project for NLCS. These projects marked the achievements of the first graduating cohort under GCIT’s newly restructured curriculum, which was implemented under Royal Command to prepare Bhutanese youth for global opportunities in the 21st century.
