A Meaningful Step Towards Mental Wellbeing

College life brings new opportunities, challenges, and pressures. Creating a space where students feel supported, heard, and comfortable seeking help is an important part of their journey. With this in mind, GCIT Zhidheyling Centre held an awareness session on Mental Health and Counselling Services for our students today.
The session facilitated by counsellor Mr. Sonam Tenzin, provided students with a better understanding of mental health, the importance of seeking support when needed, and the counselling and wellbeing services available through the college.
Students were reminded that seeking help is a strength, not a weakness. The Counsellor highlighted that counselling is not simply about giving advice; it is about listening, understanding, supporting, and helping individuals navigate the challenges they may face.
Students were encouraged to recognize the benefits of asking for help and to understand that reaching out for support is a positive step towards taking care of their wellbeing. Sometimes, seeking help is not about having all the answers: it is simply about knowing that you don't have to face everything alone.
