Since its inauguration on October 6, 2017, GCIT has functioned as a catalyst for Bhutan’s digital sovereignty. Originally established in Gyalpozhing, Mongar, and now situated in a state-of-the-art campus in Kabjisa, Thimphu, the college has transformed into a vibrant hub for advanced intelligence. What began with an initial cohort of 79 students has evolved into a high-performance ecosystem where modern technology and the principles of Gross National Happiness (GNH) intersect.

Our academic architecture is built upon two anchor pillars: the School of Future Computing (SFC) and the School of Interactive Design and Development (SIDD). The School of Future Computing drives our technical core through specialized tracks in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Blockchain, Cybersecurity, and Full Stack Development, while the School of Interactive Design and Development focuses on the aesthetic, functional and immersive interfaces of the digital world. Together, these schools cultivate the agentic capacity to both build and design the systems that define the modern era, ensuring our graduates possess the multidimensional agility required to lead within a knowledge-based society.

The GCIT journey is marked by rapid growth and a commitment to project-based learning. We have moved beyond traditional instruction to implement a curriculum that emphasizes creativity, critical thinking, and real-world application. By integrating specialized Bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science and Information Technology, we ensure our educational portfolio remains at the forefront of the global landscape. Our relocation to Thimphu signifies a system upgrade, expanding our capacity to serve as a beacon of opportunity and a center of excellence for youth empowerment.
