Students from different agencies and social clubs across GCIT came together for an engaging session on Social Media Analytics & Social Engineering. This specially curated International workshop brought together students in Tech Entrepreneurship & Development to exchange ideas and explore how the world of social media can be used strategically with governance.

The workshop were led by Mr. Eu Jeen Seah, a professional from Deloitte Consulting Singapore whose strategy work in digital media, social media analytics and social listening provided students and staff with practical perspectives on traversing with today’s rapidly evolving digital information and data currency.

Rinchen Choden, a second-year Cybersecurity student, shared that the most valuable takeaway for her was learning how analytics can guide better decision-making. “Reviewing and understanding our metrics will help us plan our content more deliberately.”

These skills will help GCIT students to not only better manage social media accounts but understanding the pros and cons in information access. Key skills acquired from this workshop were:

statistical analysis of social audiences with social listening tools
interpreting social digital trends
formulating informed decisions with open source social models
using AI with social media analytics and setting guardrails
prepping for Entrepreneurship with social media as key platforms

Strengthening Industry & Institutional Collaboration

For GCIT students and staff, the workshop was more than the construct of digital literacy and affluence of social media analytics, it was an opportunity to develop real-world social literacy, analytical thinking with complementary education in branding and creativity engagements online.
