Application Information

The Royal University of Bhutan (RUB) will be carrying out admissions to the Colleges of the University online as in the past. Admission to each of the programmes will be based on merit ranking as per the eligibility criteria and ability rating as detailed against each programme.

The online application for both Government Scholarship as well as Self-Financed students in RUB Colleges Gyalpozhing College of Information Technology (GCIT) will open from 25th April 2022, 9:00am and will close on 3rd May 2022, 5:00pm.

Requirements for admission to RUB Programmes
All eligible students seeking admission will have to produce the following documents:

  • Citizenship Identity Card
  • Class 12 Mark Sheet and Pass Certificate
Programme : Bachelor of Digital Media & Development
Eligibility Criteria : Class XII pass students with a minimum of 55% in Mathematics/ Business Mathematics
Ability rating points : 

Mathematics/ Business Maths – 5

Physics/Geography/ Accountancy – 4

3 other subjects – 1

Shortlisted applicants for the Bachelor of Digital Media & Development program will be required to undergo a Creative Thinking Test (CTT) followed by an online interview. Prior to the CTT, applicants with related artworks are encouraged to submit their portfolios though this is not compulsory.

Creative Thinking Test

Applicants will be required to go through a Creative Thinking Test (CTT) which will be conducted as part of the selection process to test on their creativity and drawing proficiency.

You will be tested on your ability to communicate by visual means and your flair in creative expression through your drawing and poster design.

The test consists of 2 sections, section 1 is free-hand drawing and section 2 is hand-drawn poster design. For both sections, you will be given examples to help you understand the parameters of the test requirements.
The entire test will take about 80 mins to complete.

Application:

Q: When is the application date?
A: Application starts on 25th April and closes on 03rd May.

 

Portfolio:

Q: When should I submit my portfolio?
A: If you have arts or digital media related works, you may submit them latest by 18th May, 5:00pm.

Q: What must I include in my portfolio?
A: You may include any past designs or creative artwork that you have created e.g. poster design, drawing, painting, photography, videography, digital media applications etc.

Q: How many pieces of work should I include?
A: You should ideally put together around 5 -10 pieces.

Q: How can I submit my portfolio?
A: You may convert your portfolio into digital format and submit the portfolio via email to submitportfolio.gcit@rub.edu.bt. Please follow the requirements below :

  • Title of your email : Portfolio Submission for CIDxxxxxx_your full name.
  • If you do not have a CID, please use other Personal Identification Number.
  • For your digital portfolio filename, you may use jpeg, png format. Please use the naming convention – CIDxxxxxx_your full name_#.
  • For example, 10201001034_Karma Dorji_1.jpg/.png, or 10201001034_Karma Dorji_2.jpg/.png (if more than one file to submit)

 

CTT Test:

Q: When is the CTT Test?

A: The CTT Test is on 21st May.

Q: What programme or app is required for the CTT Test?

A: Please ensure you have internet access.

Q: What do I need to prepare prior to the test?
A: You need to read the instructions online.

Q: What if I do not have access to online resources to sit for the CTT Test?

A: There is an option for physical submission in the event you are not able to participate through Zoom session for the CTT Test. The applicants are to indicate if they will be able to attend online test session or physical test center for the CTT.

 

Interview:

Q: What mode will the interview be conducted in?
A: It will be conducted via Zoom.

Q: When and how would I know if I have been shortlisted for an interview?
A: You will be notified via SMS and email by 23 May if you are shortlisted.

Q: What would I be expected to do for the interview?
A: You will be asked about your interest in the course, involvement in course-related activities, career aspirations etc. in order for us to assess your aptitude for the course.

Q: When will I know my interview outcome?
A: Successful applicants will be notified by 30 May.

Q: Can I also apply for other courses at the same time?
A: You may also apply for other courses.
