Application Information
The Royal University of Bhutan (RUB) will be carrying out admissions to the Colleges of the University online as in the past. Admission to each of the programmes will be based on merit ranking as per the eligibility criteria and ability rating as detailed against each programme as well as the result from the Computation Thinking Test.
The online application for the programmes in Gyalposhing College of Information Technology (GCIT) will open from 1st March 2023 and will close on 15th March 2023 at 5pm.
Requirements for admission to RUB Programmes
All eligible students seeking admission will have to produce the following documents:
- Citizenship Identity Card
- Class 12 Mark Sheet and Pass Certificate

- 1. Candidates applying for both GCIT ICM Bachelor of Computer Science and Bachelor of Interactive Design and Development programme must first send here their application using the above application link. If candidates wishes to apply for both programmes, they must state the order of their preference in the registration form.
- 2. After the first round of selection, successful candidates will be informed via email and SMS to sit for Computational Thinking Test at various RUB designated test centers. Applicants must indicate their preferred test center in the application form.
- 3. Based on the result of the Computational Thinking Test, shortlisted candidates will be informed to attend an online interview. Notification of the interview date and time will be sent via email and SMS to the candidates.
- 4. Upon successful interview, applicants will be offered a place in the programme.
- 5. Applicants must confirm their acceptance via GCIT website by a stipulated date.
Computational Thinking Test
Applicants will be required to go through a Computational Thinking Test on the 1st April 2023 which will be conducted as part of the selection process to determine the aptitude and suitability of the applicants for both the Bachelor of Computer Science and Bachelor of Interactive Design and Development programmes.

A: No. Computational Thinking Test is a form of aptitude test for computer science.
Q: How long is the test?
A: The duration of the test is 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Q: What is the format of the test?
A: There are two types of questions:
Multiple choice: Has one correct response and three incorrect responses
Multiple response: Has two or more correct responses out of five or more options
Select one or more responses that best complete the statement or answer the question.
Unanswered questions are scored as incorrect; there is no penalty for guessing. Partial credit is awarded for multiple-response questions.

Q: How to check in to your test center?
A: Refer to your confirmation email for instructions regarding what to bring and expect on test day. We ask that you arrive at the test center 15–30 minutes the test time.
Q: When and how would I know if I have been shortlisted for an interview?
A: You will be notified via SMS and email by 4th April if you are shortlisted.
Interview session
You will be notified to participate in a ZOOM interview session if you manage to pass the test.
Q: What programme or app is required for an interview?
A: Please ensure you have a Zoom account.
Q: What mode will the interview be conducted in?
A: It will be conducted via Zoom.
Q: How do I prepare myself for the interview?
A: You will be asked about your interest in the course, involvement in course-related activities, career aspirations etc. in order for us to assess your aptitude for the course.
